The first week of the New School Year


We have now completed the first week of the new school year at Varee Chiang Mai School. The Mathayom EP students have made a good start to the term and they all seem happy to be back with their friends.
IN English we have been talking about the holidays and the M1EP & M2EP students have written postcards about what they did. This coming week we will start using the course books.

Students Newspapers Homework Assignment

Over the past week the students have been learning about ‘Reported Speech’. Their homework for this weekend is to create the front page of a newspaper with one main article which features some ‘Reported Speech’. The deadline for this assignment in Tuesday morning.

English Conversation: a Job Interview – M1EP Homework Assignment

This month the students have been studying the Present Perfect Tenses. They have now been given a homework assignment to create a conversation that makes use of this grammar.

They have been asked to write, act out and then record their job interview conversation on video.

The students will present their work this coming Monday and we hope to show some of their work on this blog shortly …

Academic Competition at Varee Chiang Mai School

This week saw the first ever EP Academic Competition Day at Varee Chiang Mai School. The event was a great success – over 150 studetns from 4 English Programme Schools in Chiang Mai took part in 6 competition cover in everything from speeches to chess to singing. Mathayom 3EP students were given the opportunity to compete and Alex and Wisa both did very well in their respective events. They also represented Varee Chiang Mai School and received the overall prize for our school. More photos from this event to follow soon …

The tests are finished – Enjoy the weekend :)

The M3EP students can now relax because they have all completed their mid-term tests. Now it is the teachers who are busy – marking tests and preparing the reports.

Next week Varee Chiang Mai School will be holding an English Programme Academic Competition Day on Friday 29th July. On this day we will be visited by students from others schools including Montfort and Sacred Heart. A number of students from M3EP will be taking part in these competitions (Science Quiz, Speech Competition, Story Telling Competition & Singing Contest).

Mid-term tests finished :)

The mathayom students can all breath a sigh of relief as they have now all completed their mid-term tests. The teachers are now busy marking tests and preparing the students scores and reports which will be issued in a couple of weeks time.

Next week Varee Chiang Mai School will be holding an English Programme Academic Competition Day on Friday 29th July. On this day we will be visited by students from others schools including Montfort and Sacred Heart. A group of students from M1EP will be taking part in this event. Mathayom 3 English Programme studies

Today is the beginning of the first full week of the new school year. A few of the students that travelled abroad during the holidays have finally arrived back at school and so our class is now well and truly full. 

Monday is a good day for M3EP because they have English twice and today the students were given their homework booklets. Today’s homework is to work on the spelling and prepare for Friday’s test.

 The student also began using their English course book, New Opportunities- Upper Intermediate.

The topic this week is comedy.

A full week at Varee Chiang Mai School

Today is the beginning of the first full week of the new school year. Today the students will be given their homework booklets which they need to complete each evening.

The student also began using their English course book Cutting Edge Intermediate today. The topic this week is hobbies, leisure time and friends.

So far the students have settled in well to their new schooling environment and they all appear to be eager to get on with this year’s studies.
